Traveling with mobility limitations in Egypt is possible, and we have built an itinerary that does not pretend disabilities do not exist and does not ask you to push past your actual needs. We have done this tour with travelers using wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices, and with people managing pain, stamina issues, or other conditions.
Cairo first. We book a hotel in an area where you can walk short distances and actually experience the city, not just look out a window. The Pyramids are best seen from Giza plateau, and we can arrange private vehicle access to specific viewpoints so you see them without needing to hike. The Egyptian Museum has elevators, ramps, and accessible routes through the main galleries, though some sections require negotiating multiple levels. We map this in advance and you choose what you want to see.
Khan el-Khalili bazaar is not accessible in the way modern spaces are accessible. It is narrow, crowded, and uneven. But specific sections are more navigable than others, and we know the quieter times of day and the less crowded routes. You can shop there at a pace that works for your body.
The Nile cruise is actually ideal for accessibility. Your cabin is on the boat. Meals are on the boat. You do not need to walk a lot to eat or sleep. You disembark for temple visits, and we arrange vehicles with drivers. You control the pace at each site. If you want to see the Valley of the Kings but cannot walk the full valley, you can visit one tomb and return to the car. The guide explains what you are seeing. You do not owe anyone a full site visit.
We hire guides trained in mobility awareness. They know how to describe things so you understand the layout without needing to walk every inch. They know which sites have more walking and which have less. They know which bathrooms are cleanest and where to rest. They have done this before.
We build in rest days. After a dawn visit to the Valley of the Kings, you have the full afternoon off. You can nap, swim if you want, or simply rest.
This is Egypt at your pace, not Egypt at a standard pace that assumes everyone can do eight hours of walking daily.
