Your Egypt Day Tours representative meets you at Cairo airport with a name sign and helps you through immigration and customs, then takes you by private air-conditioned car to your hotel. On the way they run through the plan for your trip and answer any questions, and at the hotel they help you check in. Overnight in Cairo.

After breakfast your guide takes you to the Giza Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple of Khafre, then on to the Grand Egyptian Museum near the Pyramids, home to the complete Tutankhamun collection, much of it on display for the first time, in galleries that take you through Egyptian history in order, followed by a drive along the Nile. Optional in the evening: the Pyramids Sound and Light Show ($50 per person). Overnight in Cairo. Meals: breakfast and lunch.

After breakfast you visit Saqqara for the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the world’s oldest major stone structure, then Memphis, the first capital of ancient Egypt, with its colossal statue of Ramesses II, and Dahshur with the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid. In the evening you board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast is served on the train. In Aswan your guide takes you to the High Dam, completed in the 1960s, the Unfinished Obelisk, probably intended for Queen Hatshepsut, and by boat to Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Overnight in Aswan. Meals: breakfast and lunch.

Early in the morning a private air-conditioned car takes you to Abu Simbel, where Ramesses II carved two great temples into the sandstone cliff, the Great Temple, dedicated to the sun, and the temple of Queen Nefertari. Back in Aswan you board your Nile cruise for lunch, then sail to Kom Ombo for the temple shared by Sobek and Haroeris, and on to Edfu. Overnight on board in Edfu. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

After breakfast you visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu. The cruise then passes through the lock at Esna and sails on to Luxor, with a galabeya party after dinner. Overnight on board. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

After breakfast your guide takes you to the West Bank of Luxor for the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the few women to rule as pharaoh, and the Colossi of Memnon. Overnight on board in Luxor. Meals: breakfast and lunch.

After breakfast you disembark. If you wish, start the day with a hot air balloon flight over the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens and the Tombs of the Nobles ($110 per person, about 45 minutes depending on the weather). You then visit Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple before boarding the overnight sleeper train to Cairo, with dinner on board. Meals: breakfast and lunch.

You’ll start in Cairo, where your Egypt Day Tours rep meets you at the airport and takes you to your hotel. From there you’ll explore Cairo and Sakkara, take an overnight sleeper train to Aswan, sail the Nile from Aswan to Luxor, ride another sleeper train back to Cairo, and enjoy a free day in Cairo before flying home on day 10.

You’ll take two overnight sleeper trains on this trip, one from Cairo to Aswan on day 3 and one from Luxor back to Cairo on day 8. They’re a comfortable and memorable way to cover the distance while you sleep, complete with a private cabin and dinner served onboard, so you wake up ready for the next stop.

Yes, on day 5 you’ll be picked up early from your hotel in Aswan for a private air-conditioned drive to Abu Simbel to see the two great temples built by Ramesses II. It’s one of the most awe-inspiring stops on the whole trip, so we build in enough time to take it all in.

Your Nile cruise runs from Aswan to Luxor, with stops to explore the Temple of Horus in Edfu, a Galabya party onboard, and a full day exploring Luxor’s West Bank including the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon before you disembark.

Yes, day 9 is a free day in Cairo after your overnight train back from Luxor. You’re welcome to rest, or you can add on an optional tour of Cairo’s Islamic, Coptic and Jewish heritage sites for about $55 per person if you’d like to keep exploring.
