Bahariya Oasis Overnight Tour

Your guide collects you early from your hotel in Cairo for the drive of about 350 km south-west to Bahariya Oasis. You see the old village among its palm groves and orchards, then head to the Black Mountains for the sand dunes and the salt lake, the Temple of Ain el-Muftella, and the hilltop ruin known as the English House for sunset. In the evening you drive into the White Desert for a night at a desert camp. Overnight in the White Desert. Meals: lunch and dinner.

After breakfast you drive to Crystal Mountain, with its quartz crystals, and the Agabat valley, with its volcanic rocks and petrified wood. You cross the Black Desert and stop at a hot spring before returning by 4×4 to Bahariya and on to your hotel in Cairo. Meals: breakfast.

This two-day adventure takes you from Cairo to Bahariya Oasis, about 350 km southeast, where you’ll explore the old village, palm groves and the Black Mountains before spending the night camping under the stars in the White Desert. Day two continues with Crystal Mountain, the Black Desert and a stop at the hot spring in the Valley of El Haize before returning to Cairo.

You’ll camp overnight in the White Desert, one of Egypt’s most striking landscapes of wind-carved white chalk formations. It’s a magical way to experience the desert’s silence and star-filled sky far from the city.

The Black Mountains are covered in dark volcanic rock and sand dunes, and you’ll also visit a salt lake and the Temple of Ain El Muftella, once the main water source for the old oasis capital. As the sun sets, you’ll stop at the ruined English House for one of the tour’s most memorable views.

On day two, you’ll head to Crystal Mountain to see its natural quartz crystal formations, then continue into the Black Desert to view the volcanic reddish rocks and petrified wood of the Valley of Ashgabat before soaking in the hot spring at the Valley of El Haize.

Yes. Much of the White Desert and Black Desert terrain requires a 4×4 vehicle, which our driver handles for the off-road sections, while a private air-conditioned vehicle covers the main road journey between Cairo and Bahariya.
