Luxury Egypt Tours

  • Operating since 2013
  • Licensed Egyptologist guides
  • 1-hour WhatsApp response Egypt-wide
  • 5-star hotel and cruise tiers across all itineraries

Why Choose Luxury Egypt Tours

Every Egypt Day Tours itinerary is private — no group buses, no strangers sharing your guide. The luxury tier extends that privacy to every other component of your trip. Hotels move to 5-star properties (Kempinski Nile, Four Seasons, Old Cataract, Winter Palace). Your Nile vessel moves to a 5-star ship with suite-category cabins, or — for a genuinely different experience — a dahabiya: a traditional sailing vessel with 10–12 passengers at most, where you set the pace and anchor away from the main cruise corridor.

Your guide at luxury tier is a senior Egyptologist, typically with an archaeology postgraduate degree or decades of specialist field experience, including in some cases active excavation work. Vehicle upgrades to Mercedes V-Class equivalent. Pre-arranged private dining, and optional add-ons from sunrise balloon over the Valley of the Kings to private felucca on the Nile at sunset. Every component is arranged by EDT before you arrive.

What’s Always Included

  • Private airport transfers — arrival and departure
  • Licensed Egyptologist guide for all site visits
  • All entry fees for included sites
  • AC transport throughout (vehicle class by tier)

What’s Included at Luxury Tier

  • 5-star hotels in Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, and Alexandria
  • 5-star Nile cruise ship with suite-category cabins, or dahabiya upgrade
  • Premium vehicle class — Mercedes V-Class or equivalent
  • Senior Egyptologist guide with advanced credentials
  • All entry fees including premium-tier tickets (Khufu interior, Tutankhamun tomb, Seti I tomb on request)
  • Private transfers and inter-city flights in business class where available
  • 24/7 dedicated concierge via WhatsApp

The Dahabiya Option

A dahabiya is a traditional Egyptian sailing vessel — typically 10 to 12 passengers. The word means “golden” in Arabic, a reference to the gilded vessels that once carried Egyptian royalty along the Nile. Today’s dahabiyas are restored or purpose-built wooden boats with air-conditioned cabins, sun decks, and dining salons.

The difference from a standard 5-star cruise ship is meaningful. A 60-to-80-cabin cruise carries up to 160 passengers on a fixed schedule. A dahabiya carries your group of 10 to 12 at its own pace, anchors in quieter stretches of the Nile away from the main cruise corridor, and has shallow enough draft to reach Esna and other stops that larger ships cannot. It is slower, quieter, and more personal.

EDT can substitute a dahabiya for the standard 5-star cruise on any cruise-inclusive itinerary: the 7-day Cairo + Nile Cruise, the 10-day Cairo + Cruise + Alexandria, and the 10-day Cairo + Cruise + Hurghada. Dahabiya pricing varies by season and vessel availability — WhatsApp Attarious at +20 100 680 88 57 to check dates and get a quote.

Optional Luxury Add-Ons

  • Luxor sunrise hot-air balloon — $150 per person, view over the Valley of the Kings at first light
  • Private felucca with sunset service in Aswan — EDT arranges the hire and coordinates timing
  • Private sound-and-light show at Karnak or the Pyramids — EDT coordinates booking
  • Premium restaurant reservations — Nubian village dining, Cairo rooftop venues
  • Private archaeologist briefings — one-on-one sessions with your Egyptologist guide at your hotel or on-site

We booked the 10-day Cairo, Nile Cruise, and Alexandria at the 5-star level. The Old Cataract in Aswan alone was worth every penny. Our guide knew the provenance of every column in Karnak. Nothing was rushed.

The dahabiya upgrade was the best decision of our trip. We were the only guests on deck most evenings. The Egyptologist guide joined us for dinner and turned every meal into an unofficial lecture. We have already recommended EDT to three friends.

I have visited Egypt for academic purposes for twenty years. EDT arranged access I had never managed independently — Seti I tomb, Khufu interior, and a private briefing with a senior guide who had worked on the Luxor excavations.

Three generations from my grandmother at 82 to my daughter at 9. EDT paced the itinerary perfectly and adjusted guide explanations for each age group. The Winter Palace in Luxor was magnificent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes luxury Egypt tours different from standard EDT itineraries?

Every EDT tour is private, regardless of tier — that is the baseline. The luxury tier upgrades all components simultaneously: hotel to 5-star (Four Seasons, Old Cataract, Winter Palace), Nile vessel to 5-star ship or dahabiya, vehicle to Mercedes V-Class class, and guide to a senior Egyptologist with advanced credentials. The combined effect changes the depth and character of the experience significantly.

Should I choose a dahabiya or a 5-star cruise ship?

A 5-star cruise ship offers larger cabins, a swimming pool, and a more structured onboard programme. A dahabiya offers intimate scale (10 to 12 passengers maximum), a slower pace, and access to quieter stretches of the Nile that larger ships bypass. First-time visitors often prefer the cruise ship for familiar amenities; repeat visitors and those who want a more exploratory experience tend to prefer the dahabiya.

Are there business-class options for internal Egypt flights?

Egypt Air operates business class on domestic routes including Cairo to Aswan, Cairo to Luxor, and Cairo to Hurghada. Seats are limited, particularly in peak season. EDT can arrange business-class bookings as part of your itinerary where available. Pricing is quoted separately from the ground-based itinerary.

What level of guide credentials should I expect at luxury tier?

Senior Egyptologist guides at EDT hold Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities licensure and typically have an archaeology or Egyptology degree, often at postgraduate level. Some have worked on active excavation projects in Luxor or at the GEM complex. You will get substantive academic context at every site — not just facts, but the living scholarly debates about what these monuments are still revealing.

What is the best season for luxury Egypt travel?

October through April is peak season with comfortable temperatures (15 to 28°C). November and February are particularly popular for luxury itineraries. May through September is hotter (35 to 45°C in Upper Egypt) but quieter, with emptier temples and lower hotel rates. Early October and late April offer excellent shoulder-season conditions combining comfort with reduced crowds.

Can luxury itineraries be customized for honeymooners or family groups?

Yes. Honeymoon customizations typically add private felucca rides at sunset, premium dining reservations, and room-upgrade requests at hotels. Family customizations adjust pacing, add age-appropriate stops, and ensure accommodation with connecting rooms or suites.
