100+ private tours booked · Cairo to Alexandria · Licensed Egyptologist guides
Experience the full sweep of ancient Egypt on this expertly designed 10-day private itinerary. You start in Cairo with the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Pyramids of Giza, then fly to Aswan to board your Nile cruise ship. Sail north through Kom Ombo and Edfu to Luxor — stopping at Abu Simbel — before flying on to Alexandria for a Mediterranean finale. Every day is private, every guide is a licensed Egyptologist, and every transfer is door-to-door in an air-conditioned vehicle.
Your private guide meets you at Cairo International Airport and transfers you to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza — the world’s largest archaeological museum, home to the complete Tutankhamun collection and over 100,000 ancient artifacts. Evening at leisure to settle in.
Begin at the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx as the crowds are still thin. Your Egyptologist explains the engineering feats behind each pyramid and the mythology of the Sphinx. Continue to Saqqara — Egypt’s oldest pyramid complex — and the ruins of ancient Memphis. Evening: wander the labyrinthine lanes of Khan el-Khalili bazaar for spices, souvenirs, and traditional mint tea.
Early morning flight to Aswan. Transfer to the Nile cruise terminal and board your private cabin. After lunch on board, visit Philae Temple — the island sanctuary of the goddess Isis, relocated to Agilkia Island after the construction of the High Dam. Sunset on the cruise deck as you settle into life on the Nile.
Optional early-morning flight (or 3-hour coach) to Abu Simbel — one of Egypt’s most iconic sites. Two colossal rock-cut temples built by Ramesses II feature four 20-metre statues of the pharaoh at the entrance. The interior walls are covered in battle reliefs from the Battle of Kadesh. Return to Aswan and cruise in the afternoon. Option: visit the Nubian Village by felucca.
Morning visit to the Aswan High Dam — a modern engineering marvel that transformed Egypt’s Nile Valley. Continue to the Unfinished Obelisk — still lying in its granite quarry — which reveals exactly how ancient Egyptians carved these towering monuments. Early afternoon departure; sail north and dock at Kom Ombo for the unique double temple shared by crocodile-god Sobek and falcon-god Horus.
Dock at Edfu in the morning. Take a traditional horse-drawn carriage to the Temple of Horus at Edfu — the best-preserved Ptolemaic temple in Egypt, ringed by towering pylons. Your guide brings the carved relief scenes of the Horus myth to life. Return to the cruise and sail the final stretch to Luxor, arriving by evening.
Disembark for a full morning at Karnak Temple Complex — the largest religious structure ever built. Walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 colossal columns, past sacred lakes and obelisks. Afternoon: visit Luxor Temple, beautifully connected to Karnak by the Avenue of Sphinxes. Optional evening: sound-and-light show at Karnak (supplement).
Cross the Nile to the West Bank — ancient Thebes’s necropolis. Enter the Valley of the Kings and descend into three royal tombs, including the tomb of Ramesses IV and Ramesses IX. Visit the remarkable Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari and stand before the enigmatic Colossi of Memnon. Optional: pre-dawn hot-air balloon flight over the Valley (supplement).
Morning flight from Luxor to Alexandria. Your guide meets you on arrival for an afternoon of Mediterranean highlights. Visit the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina, built on the site of the ancient world’s greatest library. Explore the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa — a fusion of Egyptian, Greek and Roman burial art. End the day at the Citadel of Qaitbay, built on the site of the famous Pharos lighthouse, overlooking the open sea. Overnight in Alexandria.
Relaxed morning in Alexandria — optional visit to Montaza Palace gardens or Pompey’s Pillar. Your driver transfers you to Alexandria airport or back to Cairo (3-hour coastal drive) for your international departure. Need more days? Ask us about extending to 12 or 14 days with Red Sea or Siwa Desert add-ons.
This itinerary follows the most celebrated travel corridor in Egypt — and adds the often-overlooked gem of Alexandria at the end. You begin in Cairo and Giza, Egypt’s modern and ancient capital, then fly 900 km south to Aswan, gateway to Nubia and the temples of Abu Simbel. The Nile cruise sails you north through the fertile valley, stopping at Kom Ombo and Edfu before reaching Luxor — ancient Thebes, the world’s greatest open-air museum. A final flight west brings you to Alexandria on the Mediterranean, where Greek, Roman, and Egyptian histories intertwine at every corner.
Group sizes on this itinerary are strictly private — you, your travel companions, and your licensed Egyptologist guide. No sharing with strangers, no rushed group schedules.
