Egypt Day Tours do not require a cancellation fee for tours or excursions canceled for ‘force majeure’ reasons like volcanoes, earthquakes, or reasons that are Out of control. If the booking cancellation happens For personal or business reasons and Egypt Day Tours has already incurred the booking costs on your behalf, these costs will be transferred to you.

All tours don’t include entrance fees to special archaeological sites, such as walking inside one of the pyramids and the Mummies Room at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo or entering the Tomb of Tutankhamen at Valley of the Kings in Luxor are also available at extra cost.

Yes, this tour is specifically designed for cruise ship passengers and is carefully timed to guarantee your return to Aqaba cruise port well before ship departure. Our company has extensive experience managing shore excursions and maintains strict timing protocols. We will not extend your Petra visit if it would jeopardize your return to the ship, ensuring you never miss your vessel.

After the initial guided walk through the Siq to the Treasury, you will have considerable freedom to explore independently. Your guide will provide a map, suggest key sites to visit, and indicate a meeting time for return. Some visitors prefer to explore at their own pace while others remain with the guide for full interpretation. Your flexibility will be accommodated based on your preference.

Moderate to heavy walking is involved, approximately six to eight kilometers depending on how extensively you explore. The initial Siq walk is 1.2 kilometers on relatively level ground with a slight downward grade. Exploration beyond the Treasury involves walking on sandy and rocky terrain, with some hills and uneven surfaces. Comfortable walking shoes with good support are essential. The entire experience typically involves four to five hours of active walking and exploration.

Early morning light creates the most beautiful illumination on Petra’s rose-colored stone, making the first hours after opening ideal for photography and experiencing the monuments. The morning temperatures are also more comfortable for the significant walking involved. Later in the day, afternoon light takes on different qualities that also create stunning visual effects. Visiting early in your tour ensures you have full energy for extensive exploration.

Walking the entire Petra route is absolutely possible and does not require camel riding. Many visitors prefer to walk and explore independently. However, camel rides through the Siq are available for approximately $20 to $30 per person, allowing a more relaxed entry experience. Horseback riding is available for those interested in exploring beyond the Treasury to the Monastery. These options are optional and not necessary for a wonderful Petra experience.

Bring substantial sun protection including a wide-brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen, and sunglasses, as there is minimal shade in the Petra canyon. Comfortable walking shoes with ankle support are essential. Bring a refillable water bottle and drink frequently throughout the day, as dehydration is a serious concern in the desert environment. Wear light-colored, long-sleeved clothing for sun protection. A light jacket is helpful for the coach ride and early morning exploration when temperatures are cool.
