Itinerary

Day 1:Arrival Day - Cairo

Arrival at your accommodation in Alexandria. You will spend the rest of the day at
leisure exploring the surroundings and familiarizing yourself with the city.

Day 2:Alexandria

After an early breakfast, transfer to the eastern harbor to take your boat for your first fishing journey in Alexandria. You will spend around 6 hours on a boat journey stopping in different locations for scouting for different types of fish. All fishing equipment and related items will be provided, so you only need to worry about catching fish and enjoying the journey. At noon, seafood lunch will be served on board as well as refreshments. Around 4pm the boat will start coming back to the harbor. Before heading back to your accommodation, you can visit the Maritime museum next to the harbor , where you will learn about the different species of fish in the region. Overnight in Alexandria.

Day 3:Alexandria

8am – 12 pm
Today will be a day to explore the city of Alexandria and understand more about its
unique identity and mixture of both Greek and Egyptian style . You will start your tour
today by a transfer to Kom Dikka Region. Kom El Dikka is a Heritage area of ancient
Alexandria and here you will experience your first local breakfast in a traditional street
food cart. Locals would have their breakfast in front of these food carts while standing and exchanging conversations. You will be experiencing some of the local cuisine such as fava beans, falafel, traditional egyptian omelet and much more. After breakfast, you will walk in the Kom Dikka region and witness some of the old buildings till we reach the Roman Amphitheatre and the exhibition for sunken monuments of Alexandria. The theater complex was built with materials from all over the world and is a true representation of how life in Hellenistic time looked like. You will get to explore the theater, roman baths, a street and some villas that survived from the 4th century A.D. Moreover, it is the location of a collection of statues that were saved from underwater in the eastern harbor.

12 pm – 1:30 pm

It will be time to go to eat lunch in one of the traditional restaurants in Alexandria. You
will experience mix grills as well as local Egyptian food such as vine leaves, Mosaka
and several other Mediterranean sea items .

1:30 pm – 4 pm
Later we will move to visit the Mostafa Kamel Necropolis. It dates back to the 3rd
Century AD. and was discovered in 1933. Mostafa Kamel Necropolis has four different
tombs with interesting depictions that date back to the Hellenistic time. After the
Necropolis, you will have a stroll in the National Maritime Museum in Alexandria. This
museum will provide you with in depth information about the Maritime history of Egypt, such as ships, models, some famous battles as well related marine life. At the end, you will return back to your hotel.

Day 4:Edku

Grab a quick bite, but don’t get too full as the day is filled with delicious surprises. An
early morning transfer to Edku lake which is one of the lakes in northern egypt that has
a significant history throughout different eras. You will start your day with a visit to a bee
farm. There, you will have a traditional countryside breakfast of honey, molas, prata
bread and some other local delicacies. You will get to witness the beekeepers and how
they gather honey, and deal with the daily shores. If you are curious, feel free to wear
the protective suit and get a closer encounter with the bees yourself.
Afterwards, you will be walking in the local market, enjoying the ambiance of the
countryside town overlooking the Edku lake.

tasks. Later, we will move to a camp location on the lake where you will have picnic
lunch and try Egyptian countryside cuisine. After lunch, you have the choice of fishing in
the lake or go for a kayak ride. After a breathtaking view of the sunset, return back to
your accommodation.

Day 5:Mariout

After breakfast, checkout from your accommodation and transfer to the Lake Mariout area. Lake Mariout is located 45 min outside Alexandria and had a significant
importance in the Greek and Roman times. Nowadays, the area is inhabited by some
bedouin tribes as well as some locals who decided to settle down far from the crowded
cities; it is also famous for being a calm and serene place to relax. After settling in your

accommodation, enjoy a tour in a toktok , the 3 wheeled transportation you are going to
see around. Today, you will get to spend your time in the area where the local Bedouin
tribe reside. You will get to walk around in the local market, and help choose the
ingredients for your home made lunch, which would be prepared immediately upon your
return to the hosting home. You will experience the comfort and hospitality of a local
home, while an authentic bedouin cuisine gets prepared for you. After lunch, it would be
time for tea with mint, which is a common habit in Egypt. You will then return to your
accommodation and spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 6:Mariout

After early breakfast, transfer by a toktok to Mariout Lake, where you will be
experiencing your lake Mariout fishing trip. All fishing equipment, baits will be ready and
available for you, so you only need to relax and enjoy. You can choose from fishing
offshore or take a kayak and go into the lake. Lunch will be served around noon in the
camping site and afterwards you can continue your fishing expedition , watch and
converse with local fishermen or simply relax and enjoy the calm and serene
environment. By sunset, an optional horse riding excursion to a location where you
would have bedouin bbq dinner. This will be a dinner accompanied by some local
music, signing and traditional tea prepared on coal. Afterwards, transfer to your
accommodation.

Day 7:Mariout

After breakfast, you will start your excursion to Mar Mina monastery, The monastery is a UNESCO world heritage site, dedicated to the martyr Mina who is a significant martyr in the Christian Orthodox doctrine. Spend the time exploring the monastery and witness the different activities and products that are contributed by the monks. Afterwards, you will move to visit an olive farm, where you will get to learn about the olive picking, olive oil and how they extract the olive oil. Traditional Lunch will be cooked and served to you. Afterwards, move to Fagnoon art center, where you will attend a local art workshop about the bedouin artifacts and how they are created. Afterwards, transfer to your accomodation.

Day 8:Mariout

A free day , where it will be up to you to choose any extra activity to do or just wander around, exploring the locations on your own.

Day 9:Departure Day - Cairo

After breakfast, and getting a real flavor of Egypt’s history and the daily life for a week, it is time for your adventure in Egypt to come to an end. Our tour escort will be waiting for you at Hotel lobby and he will take you to Cairo Airport for Final Departure and he will assist you with immigration and customs.

Cancellation Policy

Ibis Egypt tours do not require a cancellation fee for tours or excursions canceled for ‘force majeure’ reasons like volcanoes, earthquakes, or reasons that are Out of control. If the booking cancellation happens For personal or business reasons and Ibis Egypt Tours has already incurred the booking costs on your behalf, these costs will be transferred to you.

  • The whole amount will be charged if canceled less than 30 days before the check-in date.
  • 50% of the whole amount will be charged if canceled 60 to 31 days before the check-in date.
  • 15% of the whole amount will be charged if canceled 90 to 61 days before the check-in date.
