Meet Our Expert Egypt Tour Guides

Meet Our Expert Egypt Tour Guides

Every Egypt Day Tours experience is led by a licensed, passionate guide who brings ancient history to life in front of your eyes. Our team of private Egyptologist guides and multilingual local experts has spent years mastering Egypt’s monuments, stories, and hidden gems — so you get far more than a tour. You get a conversation with someone who genuinely loves this country and wants you to love it too.

Mohamed El Attar — Founder and CEO of Egypt Day Tours

Mohamed El Attar founded Egypt Day Tours more than 15 years ago with a single conviction: that the best way to experience Egypt is privately, at your own pace, with a guide who treats you like a friend rather than a ticket number. Today Egypt Day Tours has accumulated over 1,053 five-star reviews on TripAdvisor and is recognised as one of Egypt’s most trusted private tour operators for international travellers from the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia.

Mohamed grew up in Cairo and has spent his entire professional life studying and working within Egypt’s tourism and archaeological ecosystem. He reads and speaks Arabic, English, and has working knowledge of the classical Arabic used in ancient texts. He has personally visited every site that Egypt Day Tours offers — the Pyramids hundreds of times, Abu Simbel more than 200 times, and Siwa Oasis more than any guide we know. That direct, personal knowledge shapes every tour itinerary and every guide we hire.

Mohamed personally recruits each guide on the Egypt Day Tours team, conducting direct interviews and practical assessments. He reads every guest review and follows up on every piece of feedback — positive and critical. The quality of a tour depends entirely on the quality of the guide, and Mohamed treats this as non-negotiable.

Mohamed’s Guiding Philosophy

Mohamed believes that Egypt is best understood slowly. “Most tourists rush from the Pyramids to the Museum to Luxor to Aswan and back home in seven days, and they see everything but experience nothing,” he says. “The best Egypt trip is the one where you spend an extra hour inside a tomb because you’re having a real conversation with your guide about who was buried there. That’s what we build.”

Every Egypt Day Tours itinerary reflects this philosophy: private transportation so you control the timing, licensed Egyptologist guides who know the sites deeply rather than broadly, and enough built-in flexibility that a fascinating side conversation at Karnak doesn’t mean you miss your next appointment.

Why Our Guides Are Different

All Egypt Day Tours guides hold official Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities licenses, speak fluent English, and specialise in private — never group — touring. They slow down at the sites that fascinate you, skip the crowds when possible, and share insider knowledge you won’t find in any guidebook. When our guests leave five-star reviews on TripAdvisor, they mention our guides by name. That tells you everything.

Our Guide Standards and Certifications

Every Egypt Day Tours guide meets the following minimum requirements before they join our team:

  • Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities license — a government certification requiring formal academic training (typically a 4-year university degree in Egyptology, archaeology, or tourism), written and oral government examinations, and ongoing professional renewal
  • Minimum 5 years of active guiding experience — we do not accept newly licensed guides without a proven track record on private tours
  • Fluent English — tested directly by Mohamed El Attar before hire; our guides present and explain clearly, not just translate
  • Private tour specialisation — none of our guides work group tours; they are selected specifically for private guiding, which requires patience, adaptability, and genuine expertise
  • First Aid certification — all guides hold current first aid certification through the Egyptian Red Crescent

We also offer tours with certified guides who speak French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, and Arabic as primary languages. Please specify your preferred language at booking.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Guides

Are your guides licensed by the Egyptian government?

Yes. Every guide on our team holds an official license from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. This government certification requires a formal university degree, written and oral government examinations, and ongoing professional renewal. Unlicensed guiding is illegal in Egypt at major archaeological sites — every guide you meet at the Pyramids or Valley of the Kings must by law hold this licence.

Do your guides speak English fluently?

All our standard guides speak fluent English. We also offer tours with French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Arabic-speaking guides. Please mention your preferred language when you book and we will confirm availability for your travel dates.

Are your tours private or group tours?

Every Egypt Day Tours experience is completely private. You travel only with your own group — no strangers, no waiting for others, no rushed schedules. Your guide focuses entirely on you throughout the entire tour.

Can I request a specific guide?

Absolutely. If you have a preferred guide from a previous visit or a specific recommendation from another traveller, let us know when you book and we will do our best to arrange it. We understand that a great guide is often the most memorable part of an Egypt trip.

How experienced are your guides?

Our guides average more than 12 years of active private tour guiding experience. Many hold university degrees in Egyptology, archaeology, or history in addition to their Ministry of Tourism licence. Mohamed El Attar personally reviews every guide who joins the Egypt Day Tours team.

Does Egypt Day Tours have guides who speak languages other than English?

Yes. We have guides who specialise in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, and Arabic as primary tour languages. Availability varies by destination and season — contact us with your dates and preferred language and we will confirm what we can arrange for you.
