Overview

A private accessible Aswan and Abu Simbel tour covering the easy drive-up High Dam, the assisted-boarding visit to Philae Temple, and the great temples of Abu Simbel, all in a lift-equipped vehicle with paced planning.

Aswan is the gentlest of Egypt’s great destinations, with a relaxed pace, wide river views, and several sites that suit accessible travel well. This private tour combines the highlights of Aswan with the unforgettable temples of Abu Simbel, planned around mobility so you can take in Egypt’s southern wonders in comfort.

The Aswan High Dam is among the easiest sites in the country, with simple drive-up access and flat, open viewing areas. It is a relaxed and impressive start, with sweeping views over Lake Nasser and the Nile.

As with all our tours, the day is paced for comfort, the vehicle stays close, and we plan around the heat and rest. Aswan’s naturally slower rhythm makes it a favorite among limited-mobility and senior travelers.

This tour is part of our complete guide to wheelchair accessible Egypt tours, covering accessible vehicles, Nile cruises, and itinerary planning across the country.

Itinerary

Philae Temple: Reached by Boat

Philae Temple, set on its island, is one of the most romantic sites in Egypt, and it is reachable with planning. The visit requires a short boat transfer, and boarding the boat is the main challenge, so our team arranges assisted boarding. Once on the island, the temple grounds open up before you in their riverside setting.

Abu Simbel: The Showstopper

Abu Simbel is the showstopper. The colossal seated figures of Ramses II rise from the lakeshore, and the flat forecourt in front of the temples is accessible, allowing you to take in their full scale up close. We are honest that the temple interiors have a stepped threshold, so your guide will advise on what is reachable and position you for the best of this extraordinary monument. Abu Simbel can be reached by road or by a short flight, and we arrange the option that suits you best.

This tour completes an Upper Egypt journey alongside a wheelchair accessible Nile cruise and our accessible Luxor tour, or as part of the full 8-day accessible Egypt package. For complete access detail, see our wheelchair accessible Egypt tours guide.
